Pink tea is a traditional tea from Kashmir valley and is known for its beautiful pink color. It is also called noon chai and shir chai. Most of the traditional beverages are really difficult to prepare but pink tea is easy-to-make. Also, only three main ingredients are required which are milk, gunpowder tea and baking soda.
If you’re wondering what gunpowder tea is, then, don’t think too hard, they are just green tea leaves rolled into a ball. Kashmiri tea is basically prepared in ‘samovar‘ which is a container crafted from metals like brass, bronze, silver, iron and nickel. In Kashmir, people drink this beverage on a daily basis, on special occasions pink tea is served with nuts like pistachios and almonds.

Ingredients
3 teaspoon green tea
2 cup water
3 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
3 cardamom
¼ teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoon chopped pistachios

Directions
- In a saucepan add 1 cup water, salt and green tea, bring it to boil. Then, add baking soda and whisk the tea for 10-15 seconds.
- Now, add remaining water and cardamom then, boil it for 5 minutes. It should be reduced to half.
- Add milk to the tea and boil for 5-7 minutes.
- Garnish the tea with rose petals and chopped pistachios.
