What is Sambousek? | Wordology

Sambousek is a snack from the Middle-East which is similar to samosa. However, unlike samosa, it has a half moon shape.

This snack is served hot and is often eaten during the holy month of Ramdan.

Similar to samosa, its outer covering is prepared with wheat flour dough. The filling has meat, onions, pine nuts and cashews.

Additionally, it has spices and herbs to enhance the flavour.

There is no guide to the type of meat that is used. Some people use beef while others use lamb depending on availability and taste preference.

Furthermore, Sambousek are mostly fried but you can easily find a baked one as well. It’s crispy exterior and soft filling makes it an amazing appetizer.
